Technical Difficulties

Due to unforeseen technical problems (when are they ever "foreseen"?), I am suspending all blog design effective immediately. If I can find a solution to the problems I am having with Blogger, I will eventually be back in the blog design business. In the meantime, I plan to take some time off and focus on designing other digital products, such as custom card templates and stationery products.

Hey there! As things are slowly getting back to normal (a new normal) as a family of four, I am starting to do a little design work again. As luck would have it, just as I started getting requests for projects and decided I might be ready to design again...wouldn't you know that I'm fixing to go back to my "real" job of teaching.

So, I'm going to do my best to balance both, as I have in the past. I will be taking orders on a very limited basis. I will probably only be able to work on one or two projects at a time. I'm not sure there will even be very many people out there who are interested! ;) I will try to post when my "wait list" is open and closed, but don't hesitate to contact me if you need something. I have a very hard time saying "no" or turning down a project, so please don't take it the wrong way if I'm not currently accepting projects. If you choose to wait, I'd LOVE to work with you! :)

The arrival of our new baby girl is fast approaching…only about 6 weeks to go!!

Excluding my current clients who are waiting, I am closing up shop for a little while. I need all the time I can find to 1) spend one-on-one time with my hubby and my Caroline before she’s a big sister…2) get the house cleaned!!…3) get my classroom ready for a long-term sub…and 4) get some much-needed rest and relaxation before becoming a new mommy again! :)

I hope everyone understands my absence. I will let y’all know when I’m back in the swing of things. Please don’t hesitate to email with questions or requests, but please also understand if I have to say no…if only temporarily. :)

Thanks so much for all of your business over the past 2 years…I promise I’ll be back!!!

Christmas card designs!!

I did some custom card designs for a few people last year, so I thought I’d give it another shot this year. In an effort to make these designs more affordable, I have decided to create a variety of premade designs. All you have to do is choose your design, send me your picture and wording, and I will send you a high-quality jpeg file that you can print on your own. All cards are designed on a template from Vista Print for a 5x7 flat card. You can click here to see pricing. I have ordered all of my printed cards and invitations from them for about the last 2 years, and highly recommend their services.

The price for each card design is $10. For $12, I can customize your card colors as well.

Here’s what I’ve designed so far, and should be adding soon. Vista Print usually takes up to 10-14 for standard delivery, so it would be best to order NO LATER THAN the first week of December. You may also choose to print these locally at Wal-Mart or your favorite photo center.

A little break…

Due to the start of school rapidly approaching (remember my full-time teaching job?), I’m going to be taking a little break from designing. Any orders that I’ve received and confirmed before today (8/14/10) will be completed as usual. I will make an announcement when I’m ready to take on new projects! I can’t wait to work with new clients, but just need some time to adjust to my regular school routine.

Hey y'all! I am so behind on posting on here! I am still working on getting some of recent projects posted here, but I thought I'd ask your opinion of the new logo. I might play around with it a little more before I settle on something. I realize that in most "real" businesses, a logo is something permanent, but since this is such a creative endeavor, I think I can get away from changing every once in a while! :) Also, I needed to print some business cards, so I was inspired to come up with something fresh and new.

What do y'all think? I'm thinking I could switch out the background color every so often...maybe with the seasons. Ideas??

Just wanted to share the new "simple" look that I created for my own personal blog. We had some really amazing photos taken recently and I knew I wanted them to make a statement in the header. Here are the four headers that rotate on my own blog. Let me know what you think! Should I offer this simple look as a design style? Are any of you interested in this type of look?

It's already that time of year again...

For those of you who don't already know...I'm a teacher in my "real-life"! I love designing blogs, but it's really just my "side job". So, as the summer rapidly comes to an end, I am going to be spending more time in teachers' meetings and getting my classroom ready for 150 14- and 15-year-olds...YIKES!

Long story short, I will definitely still be designing, but I will be quite a bit slower. I have prided myself on getting jobs done in as little as 3-4 days, and usually no longer than a week. And I know this is FAR shorter than the wait time for most other blog designers. However, with school starting back, and business picking up (!), my turnaround time is going to be longer.

What does this mean? Any new orders that come in will likely take at minimum a week, and possibly up to a few weeks...all depending on my workload.

I truly hope this won't discourage you from placing an order!
I sincerely love this design work that I've been doing, and meeting fun, nice new bloggers!

So, what do y'all think? I finally cracked a code I've been playing with for a while now...rotating headers! If you click "refresh" several times, you should see 4 different header images. I cannot tell you how good it feels to master a new skill! :)

I'm also lovin' this new Cori Gammon kit! So fresh...guess that's why it's called "Certainly Fresh"!

Hey y'all! Just wanted to let you know that I'll be out of town from July 8-11 (Wed-Sat), but will definitely be checking my email on my phone. I'm taking my laptop with me, but I may not have internet access often, since I'm thinking it's gonna be quite pricey at the hotel we are staying in.

Anyway, long story short...Don't hesitate to email me with new orders! I am working about 3-4 projects right now, but if you can be a little patient (say, like, up to 2 weeks), I will definitely get you taken care of! :) Honestly, between now and the middle of August is the best time to get in line, because once school (that means work for me!) starts back, I'll be a bit slower in getting jobs finished...

Mozilla Firefox...just do it!

I converted from Internet Explorer (boo!) to Mozilla Firefox (yay!) back in December, right around the time I started designing blog layouts...and take it from me...it is FAR superior when it comes to viewing cool elements on your blog!

I'd like to encourage all you bloggers out there to do the same! I've even seen some of the big-time, "pro" web designers recommending that their clients switch to Firefox. There are just a lot of problems with Internet Explorer and it not displaying images correctly. I've even run into this problem with some of my own clients. Some people have been able to change easily, but I also understand that some people don't have this option since they use work-related computers.

However, this said, it's super easy to switch! Just go here and follow the directions for the FREE download! There are so many neat things that can be done with your blog when you are viewing with Firefox...like rounded corners on your columns! Check out mine...if you are viewing in Firefox! :) If you're in IE, you will still see pointed corners. :(

Anyway, that's just my two cents...just a friendly suggestion! :)
